Now that spring has arrived, we can officially say that summer is just around the corner. Before you know it, you'll once again be entertained by the many outdoor activities Vancouver has to offer. One of the best parts of living in Kitsilano is that it is arguably one of the most central areas to the myriad of outdoor activities in Vancouver. If you're a volleyball lover, you're certainly in luck! You should get practicing so that you're prepared to serve it out at these outdoor volleyball courts in Kitsilano this summer.

Beach Volleyball: Kitsilano Beach

Some of the best outdoor beach volleyball courts in Vancouver can be found on Kitsilano Beach, with seven permanent courts for the city's beach volleyball players. If you live in Kits, you’re very central to Kitsilano Beach, so you'll be able to beat the crowd and start practicing your serve sooner than the rest. The Kits Beach Volleyball Association holds tournaments starting in May and going through the summer until August. Register to enter a tournament for $25, or simply watch from the sidelines while enjoying a day on the beach. Since every Vancouverite knows that Kits Beach is the place to be for a competitive game of beach volleyball, here is where you’re destined to meet your match. At Kits Beach, you’ll definitely have the opportunity to show off your skills!

A Day of Activities: Locarno Beach Park

Situated at the westernmost border of Kitsilano and Point Grey, Locarno Beach Park is another option for beach volleyball that is almost as dazzling as what you'll find at Kits Beach. Locarno Beach Park has six outdoor volleyball courts, and you'll find a quieter and more peaceful day that can be full of activities to pair with your volleyball game. At Locarno Beach, you can swim and cycle, or simply just relax after your volleyball practice and watch the sun go down. Locarno Beach is also a notoriously great Vancouver destination for picnicking and barbecuing, so consider making it a full day's event with friends when you visit Locarno.

Spanish Banks: Grass or Sand

If you're looking to mix up your landing a little bit, you can have your choice of sand or grass at Spanish Banks, which is situated just west of Locarno Beach Park in Point Grey. As it is just slightly outside of Kitsilano, you'll still be able to reach this destination easily. The beach is split into Spanish Banks West and East, and features eight volleyball courts, some on the beach and some on the grass. The Volleyball BC Outdoor League often uses the grass courts at Spanish Banks; if you're lucky, you might just get a chance to watch, or even join them.

With these great outdoor Kitsilano volleyball courts, you are sure to meet your match eventually. Be sure to bring only your best, and serve it out in preparation for your biggest win yet. Get the jump on your competitors, and start your practice sooner rather than later while enjoying the warmer weather of spring which will soon lead to summer.
